Michigan Technological University's Office of Equal Opportunity Compliance and Title IX (EOC) is responsible for the implementation of the University's Equal Opportunity and Discrimination/Harassment Policies. Equal Opportunity Compliance and Title IX follows the procedures under the Discrimination/Harassment Complaint Process to ensure that employees, students, and visitors are not discriminated against in employment, educational programs and activities on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, height, weight, genetic information, or marital status, disability, or veteran status.
As a federal contractor, we are also required to take affirmative action to ensure all aspects of employment are fair, equitable and free from prohibited discrimination. EOC monitors the recruitment, hiring, and employment practices to ensure compliance with these state and federal laws. All departments and search committees need to assist in the University’s compliance efforts so that we can continue to participate in federal contracts. It is very important that departments and search committees diligently review and adhere to the Hiring Process Phases/Steps provided on HR's website. Information provided in the hiring steps contains vital details for the hiring department, the search committee chair, and search committee members.
EEO Tagline
It is required by federal regulations that all advertisements contain the EEO tagline:
“Michigan Technological University is an Equal Opportunity Educational Institution/Equal Opportunity Employer that provides equal opportunity for all, including protected veterans and individuals with disabilities.”
A shorter version of the tagline may be used only when word count is under consideration for pricing of ads: "Michigan Tech is an EOE that provides equal opportunity for all, including protected veterans and individuals with disabilities."
