McDaniel College in Westminster, Maryland has appointed Julia Jasken as new provost and dean of the faculty.
As McDaniel College’s new chief academic officer, Jasken oversees the college’s academic program including curriculum, staffing, instruction, student support services, and academic resources. As dean of the faculty, she represents the faculty to the administration and works with key constituents on the development of academic policy.
Jasken began at the college in 2003 and has long been a proponent of campus-community partnerships, particularly related to community engagement efforts. As a faculty member in the English department, she has specialized in new media pedagogy and has taught a variety of professional writing courses.
A native of Moorhead, Minn., Jasken earned a bachelor’s degree from the College of Saint Benedict in St. Joseph, Minn., and a master’s degree from Northern Illinois University. She received her Ph.D. from Michigan Technological University. She currently resides in Westminster, Md.
