More on Misery Bay

Dennis,
Back in the early 60′s, a number of us, including Bill Redig, Tony Heibel and I – Mining and Geology majors – in late April and early May would go out the Agate Beach Road, not to hunt agates, but to steelhead on the Elm River. We usually did pretty well there – water flows in those days were greater than when I have checked in recent years.

In fact, one of the Elm branches was where I took Doc Berry, and netted for him the only steelhead he ever caught – he “retired” from steelheading at that point.

Doc netted a nice steelhead for me, too, that day. The rendition of this latter story would doubtlessly tickle anyone who remembers that dignified, erudite professor from his lectures. Would that I have had a camera handy on that occasion!
