Isle Royale Winter Study: Wolf Count Rises Slightly, Moose Population Drops

Wolves, up by three, stabilize and organize. Moose, down by 379, starve and decline. The 64th annual Isle Royale Winter Study report includes updates about the lives of wolves and moose along with population estimates.
The report, published by Isle Royale wolf-moose study co-leaders Sarah Hoy, John Vucetich and Rolf Peterson (all CFRES) is an integral part of the longest running predator-prey study in the world — now in its 65th year. As always, winter study was conducted during a seven-week expedition at Isle Royale National Park.
