When departments advertise open positions, some external websites allow application materials to be submitted via that website. However, all Michigan Tech employment applications must be submitted through Human Resources' Michigan Tech Employment website.
When you post to external websites that permit application submission, please include wording directly in your posting that states:
“Application materials submitted through this website will not be reviewed. You must apply on Michigan Tech's employment website to be considered for the position. Submit your application materials for this position using the following URL: [Insert the full URL for your position].”
Applications and materials received through any website other than the Michigan Tech Employment website cannot be reviewed, as those websites do not meet all of the obligations that we must follow as a federal contractor. In order to remain in compliance with the regulations, the University can only accept and review applications submitted via our employment website.
If applicants submit application materials via the website that you are using for advertising, you may contact the applicants and tell them their materials will not be reviewed unless submitted via the Michigan Tech Employment website. If you choose to contact the applicants, you must contact all of the applicants; otherwise, none of the applicants can be contacted.

Michigan Tech track and field middle distance runner Sam Lange has earned All-Region accolades for the 2024 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field season.
This marks the second consecutive year that Lange has been named to the Midwest All-Region team in the men's 1,500 meters.
All-Regions honors are awarded by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) to the region's top five student-athletes in each event, in addition to each of the members of the region's three top-ranked relay teams.

Trista Vick-Majors (BioSci/GLRC) was interviewed on Episode 5 of the ParAqua Podcast, a science podcast supported by the European Cooperation in Science and Technology that highlights new and interesting research in aquatic and marine ecology. The episode, released May 19, focused on Vick-Majors’ research on aquatic ecosystems in the polar regions.

Hiltunen explained how an 1841 survey report by state geologist Douglass Houghton led to the Western Upper Peninsula’s copper boom and the birth of the Michigan Mining School — now Michigan Tech.

Role Players Needed for Emergency Exercise
The Department of Public Safety and Police Services is organizing an emergency management exercise on June 4 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. This exercise is crucial for testing emergency response procedures and ensuring the safety of the campus community.
Role Players Needed
Public Safety is seeking volunteers to act as role players during the exercise. As role players, you will simulate various scenarios (e.g., injured individuals, evacuees, concerned family members) to help emergency responders practice their skills. Your participation is essential in making this exercise as realistic as possible.
If you are interested in participating as a role player, please register on the Houghton County website. In the “Tags” text field, please write “Role Player.” Your commitment will greatly enhance the effectiveness of the exercise and the University’s overall emergency preparedness efforts.

Submission and Formatting 101: Master the Dissertation, Thesis and Report Process
Students who are completing a dissertation, thesis or report are invited to join the Graduate School to learn about the resources available to them to assist in scheduling their defense, formatting their documents and submitting their documents. In one afternoon, you can learn everything you need to be successful and complete your degree in a timely fashion! Faculty and staff who assist students with submissions are also welcome to attend. Attend the entire event, or stop in for the seminar that interests you.
