New Standards Resource: Engineering Workbench

The Van Pelt and Opie Library recently migrated to a new platform for hosting technical standards: Engineering Workbench from Accuris. Users who had access to standards via the previous platform, TechStreet, who still require ongoing access to those standards, should reach out to library@mtu.edu.

Members of the Michigan Tech community must first create a free user account using their MTU email address. The process for requesting that the Library purchase standards to add to its collections remains the same: patrons may fill out the Request a Standard form.

Please send any feedback to library@mtu.edu.

Career Services Classroom Presentations

Get your students career ready! Navigating the world of career readiness can be daunting for both students and instructors, but you don’t have to navigate it alone! Career Services can help by talking to your students on a variety of career-related topics, including resumes, networking, goal setting, professionalism or any other tailored topic. Presentations fit within class times, so it is easy to include us in your syllabus. If you know you will be traveling, schedule us to speak to your class instead!

We are now planning for the spring semester and would love to work with you. Please use our Request Form to see a detailed list of topics and request a presentation today.

Update: APA PsycTests Database

After a trial access period, the Van Pelt and Opie Library has subscribed to APA PsycTests. This American Psychological Association database contains psychological tests and measures (many unpublished), as well as descriptive information about each test and its development and administration. It includes a wide range of instrument types, including batteries, questionnaires, rating scales and surveys. New content is added monthly.

Please contact library@mtu.edu with any questions or access issues you may have.

  • Wednesday, April 2, from 9 a.m. to noon

In this fun and interactive workshop, you’ll practice visualizing the fundamental Lean concepts of flow and waste and see how you can apply them to your job right away. Lean White Belt certification is awarded to those who satisfactorily complete all requirements for this workshop.

To see the workshop description and register, complete our brief Upcoming Michigan Tech Lean Courses form or visit our website. Once registered, we'll add you to a calendar event for the course.

This workshop will be taught virtually using Zoom and Miro. Miro is a virtual collaboration tool, similar to a virtual whiteboard. Learn more about how to use Miro at the Miro Academy Essentials course. The course is considered complete after attending the workshop and submitting a couple of brief activities to demonstrate application of concepts. A certification of completion will be awarded after meeting all requirements. There’s no cost to Michigan Tech employees.
