Pavlis Honors College Announces New Assistant Dean
The Pavlis Honors College (PHC) is pleased to announce that Darnishia Morris has accepted the position of assistant dean of the College. She began her new role July 1.
Morris brings a wealth of experience in honors education and leadership to this role. Most recently, she has managed global and community engagement programs — including the Global and Community Engagement Conference — for the PHC, also maintaining active teaching and advising roles. Previously, she served in multiple leadership roles at Michigan Tech, including as director of International Programs and Services, director of International Career Education, and as a regional admissions manager.
Morris received her B.S. in Industrial Management with a minor in international business, her M.S. in Applied Cognitive Science and Human Factors, and her Ph.D. in Applied Cognitive Science and Human Factors from Michigan Tech. In addition, she received her Master of Management degree from Walsh College. Her current research focuses on microaggressions in women and underrepresented minorities, mental toughness, and grit.
“We are fortunate to have someone with such a breadth of experience in education and a deep commitment to student success in this role,” said Marika Seigel, associate provost for undergraduate education and dean of the Pavlis Honors College.
“I am thrilled to continue my service to the students in the Pavlis Honors College and excited to work with an amazing team of faculty and staff,” said Morris. “I look forward to continuing to make the honors college experience a valuable part of our students' journeys — both during their college career and beyond. Together, we'll help them become innovative CEOs, impactful researchers, servant leaders and accountable global citizens.”
