FSO — Did You Know?

Financial Services and Operations (FSO) will periodically be sharing information regarding a specific topic to increase awareness and knowledge in an “FSO — Did You Know?” article. If there is an FSO topic that you’d like to learn more about, please email fso@mtu.edu.

How to Look Up Check Requests
You can look up your submitted check request in Perceptive Content by querying with the Documents button. Select AS-Invoice as your document type. In the Quick Search dropdown, select PO or Blanket #. Enter the check request number and click Go.

If you want to update anything on the check request, you can add text on the form.

This query will no longer work once the check request has been processed to your index in Banner. At this stage, you can look up the check request in Perceptive Content by using the Invoice # option in the Quick Search dropdown and inputting the document number (I#) assigned to it in Banner.

New Funding

Lanrong Bi (Chem) is the principal investigator (PI) of a project that has been awarded a $469,500 grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

The project is titled "Mitochondrial-targeting exosomes for neuroinflammation." This research aims to expand mitochondrial-targeting therapy to revolutionize exosome-based treatments.

Zhiying Shan (KIP/BioSci/BioMed) is a co-PI on the project.

The grant builds upon an earlier award Bi received from the American Heart Association, which focused on pharmacological modulation of mitochondrial dynamics for treating cardiovascular disease. The project's approach leverages insights from cardiovascular research to address the complex interplay between mitochondrial dysfunction and brain inflammation, potentially offering new therapeutic avenues for both cardiovascular and neuroinflammatory diseases.

The project will engage both graduate and undergraduate students at MTU. The funding provides hands-on research opportunities and supports student travel to national conferences to present their findings. Interested students are encouraged to contact Bi at lanrong@mtu.edu.
