International Alumni

Michigan Tech is proud of its growing number of international alumni and friends. About 15 percent of our living alumni came to Michigan Tech as international students. Today, roughly 1,100 international students and scholars from more than 50 different countries study at Michigan Tech. Each semester, Huskies study abroad through an array of academic and cultural exchange programs encompassing more than 150 locations in 60 countries. Wherever your global travels take you, chances are there's a Husky in the vicinity.

Michigan Tech's International students and alumni continually enhance our campus and the surrounding community. This inclusive global presence and worldwide perspective is apparent in the classroom, the lab, at work and at play. As just one example, there are 35 organizations specifically created for international students—and numerous others formed by international students, including Badminton and Cricket clubs as well as the Geophysical Society organized by members of the Indian Student Association. And many of our international alumni have chosen to make their homes in the US.

China takes top spot for most international students at Tech, and also holds the distinction of establishing the longest-running ethnic-based student group, the Chinese student club, formed in 1916. India's not far behind, followed by Canada.
