Dillon Bennetts

- BS Mechanical Engineering Technology 2022
- MS Manufacturing Engineering 2024
Dillon Bennetts graduated from Michigan Tech with a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology and a Minor in Naval Systems Engineering in 2022. He also earned a Master of Science Degree in Manufacturing Engineering in 2024. Dillon is currently employed with General Dynamics Electric Boat (Strategic Weapons Systems) in Groton, Connecticut, as an Engineer 1 – Systems.
Dillon states: "Being a graduate of the Michigan Tech MMET department has provided
me with a strong foundation in engineering principles, manufacturing processes and
naval systems knowledge. My education has allowed me to bridge the gap between design
and production in shipbuilding. With a deep understanding of both technical theory
and practical application, I can
develop efficient, cost-effective solutions for complex engineering challenges in
ship construction.
The hands-on experience I gained as a T.A. in the MMET Machine Shop strengthened my
problem-solving skills, which proved invaluable during my internships at Fincantieri
Bay Shipbuilding and General Dynamics Electric Boat. Exposure to real-world fabrication
challenges and large-scale ship construction enhanced my ability to troubleshoot issues,
collaborate with
multidisciplinary teams, and improve manufacturing processes—key factors in my success
at gaining a full-time position at one of the top submarine manufacturers in the country.”
