Nancy Vandermey

Nancy Vandermey is a rocket scientist, volunteer zookeeper and amateur photographer.
She graduated in 1989 with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Michigan Tech and holds a master's degree in engineering mechanics from Virginia Tech.
Vandermey joined the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California, in 1996 and is presently Science Planning Systems Engineer for the Cassini spacecraft orbiting Saturn.
Her volunteer efforts are extraordinary. Vandermey is a volunteer zookeeper, photographer, member of the board of directors and the webmaster for the Exotic Feline Breeding Compound/Feline Conservation Center in Rosamond, California, informally known as the Cat House. This desert zoo north of Los Angeles is host to more than 60 cats from 16 different species.
She also volunteers for the Jet Propulsion Lab's annual Open House and has volunteered internationally in Mexico and Africa on wild car conservation projects. She and her husband Eric enjoy traveling and are looking forward to a month in Alaska this fall.
In 2002 the Michigan Tech Alumni Association recognized Vandermey's many accomplishments with the Outstanding Young Alumni Award.
