Upendra Puntambekar

Upendra (Upen) Puntambekar is vice president at Intel Corporation. He holds master’s degrees in applied physics and computer science from Michigan Technological University.
Upen’s career started with Qualcomm covering various roles in design, development and commercialization efforts through the evolution of Qualcomm’s CDMA, 3G and 4G IP product portfolio. He was also the project engineer for Qualcomm’s Reference Design group, the company’s foray into designing turnkey solutions for China, India and other emerging markets. After 15 years with the company, he moved on to the next leadership role as a Senior Engineering Director at Motorola Mobility, a division of Lenovo Group Ltd., where he oversaw planning and commercialization of Motorola’s first LTE multimode chipset.
Upen joined Intel in 2012 as GM for the advanced 4G LongTerm Evolution (LTE-A) SW product development team, and within three years he took his team to win an Intel Achievement Award for their contributions to the development of the Intel® XMM™ 7260 LTE-A modem. After a long standing career on the modem & connectivity side, he moved to new technologies and was the Vice President in the Emerging Growth and Incubation Group, and General Manager of Strategic Programs. In his current role, he leads product software quality, compliance and business analytics with focus on cutting edge software as Intel transforms into a data technology company.
