Supportive Campus Environment (SCE) Michigan Tech participates in both the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) and Faculty Survey of Student Engagement (FSSE). Student engagement represents two critical features of collegiate quality:
- the amount of time and effort students put into academic activities, and
- how the institution uses its resources to encourage student participation in activities that are supported by decades of research to enhance student learning.
About the NSSE
The National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) annually collects information from first-year and senior undergraduate students across the country. The results give an estimate of how undergraduates spend their time at college and what they gain from attending.

Challenging intellectual and creative work is central to student learning and collegiate quality. Colleges and universities promote high levels of student achievement by emphasizing the importance of academic effort and setting high expectations for student performance.
