Steven Tomaszewski

Steven Tomaszewski is the Global Director of Environmental Strategies and Operations at General Motors. He earned his bachelor's degree in environmental engineering from Michigan Technological University in 1991 and a master's degree from Wayne State University. Tomaszewski is a founding member and former Vice President of the Michigan Tech Chapter of the Society of Environmental Engineers. He has also contributed to the university as a member of the College of Engineering Advisory Board and the Civil and Environmental Engineering Professional Advisory Committee. In 2023, he was inducted into the Civil, Environmental, and Geospatial Engineering Academy at MTU, and he received the Michigan Tech Young Alumni Award in 1999. Tomaszewski played a key role in GM’s participation in the Ride the Waves Program, which aims to raise STEM awareness among diverse communities. The program, which originated when Tomaszewski reached out to the university with the idea of engaging children in water-related issues, has taken approximately 2,500 children and adults on educational trips aboard the RV Agassiz on Lake Superior.
