Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and a Sense of Belonging
The College of Business faculty, with input from our stakeholders, adopted the following DEIS Strategic Plan.
Tomorrow needs CEOs and innovators as diverse as you. Diversity, equity, inclusion,
and a sense of belonging (DEIS) among our students, faculty, and staff is a foundational
and central component of the Michigan Tech College of Business (COB). Our focus is
to ensure that all individuals can grow, develop, and pursue their full potential
through the STEM-centered business education provided by the College of Business at
Michigan Tech.
In 2022, the College of Business created and awarded the Mickus Endowed Faculty Fellow in Business with Impact. This achievement brought to life a leadership role to attract,
reward, and retain highly talented faculty in the area of societal impact as it relates
to business. Dr. Sonia Goltz is the inaugural holder of the Mickus Endowed Faculty
Fellow; she is a life-long champion of diversity efforts in teaching, research, and
service and in 2021 was recognized for her work with the Michigan Tech Diversity Award.
The College of Business continually seeks input and ideas from our community. If you would like to take a leadership role in shaping the future of the Michigan Tech’s College of Business’ DEIS efforts, or have a question or concern on the topic, please reach out to Dr. Dean Johnson directly at dean@mtu.edu. Your voice is important, and critical to our future.
