A Michigan Tech Tradition
The day after Career Fair, recruiters stick around to conduct thousands of interviews with our Huskies. Some students spend the whole day going from interview to interview. Faculty and staff donate office space to recruiters for the day to support our students.
For Employers
You can request interview spaces as an add-on when you register for Career Fair. Full-day and half-day options are available. Full-day interview spaces include lunch.
You will have an opportunity to update your interview space request when you check in for Career Fair. Interview space assignments will be published before or during Career Fair, so you will be able to tell students where to meet you for their interviews.
As you schedule interviews with students, please be sure to communicate your name, your company's name, and the location and time of the interview. It is best to send them a text message, email, or calandar invitation. If the student does not know these details, Career Services will not be able to help them find you.
For Students
Be prepared to interview right away, the day after Career Fair. Make sure you answer calls from strange numbers on your phone Tuesday night–those might be recruiters calling to schedule interviews. Also watch your texts and emails. Make sure you write down who is interviewing you when and where.
Once you know who is interviewing you, do your homework on the employer(s). Make sure you have a copy of your resume to bring with you. Think about how your resume relates to the the employer's culture and business.
Just like for Career Fair, make sure you dress professionally for your interview. Make sure you set aside enough time to arrive at your interview location with time to spare.
Don't forget to send a Thank you note on Thursday.
