Edward S. Neumann, PhD, PE

Dr. Edward S. Neumann, a 1964 civil engineering graduate of Michigan Tech, is the Chairman of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Nevada at Las Vegas. After graduation, Edward received his M.S. and Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Northwestern University. He served as a captain with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at the Waterways Experiment Station and then joined the faculty at West Virginia University where he rose to the rank of full professor and became the Director of the Harley O. Staggers National Transportation Center.
He is currently the director of the Transportation Research Center at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He is a member of ASCE, the Advanced Transit Association (President 1988-90, Board of Directors, 1985-92), the Transportation Research Board, the National Society of Professional Engineers, the Institute of Transportation Engineers, and the American Society for Engineering Education. He is a registered professional engineer in Nevada and West Virginia.
