Thomas J. Rentenbach, DE, PE

Dr. Thomas J. Rentenbach, a 1932 civil engineering graduate of Michigan Tech, was Chairman of the Board of Rentenbach Engineering Company. After graduation, Thomas entered the Army Corps of Engineers. He worked with the Corps until 1946, in the United States and on the Panama Canal. In 1946, he founded Rentenbach Engineering Company and served as General Manager until 1956, as President from 1956 to 1971, as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer from 1971 to 1982, and thereafter, Chairman of the Board.
Mr. Rentenbach was a registered professional engineer in 16 states. He was a life member of ASCE, a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers, and the Associated General Contractors of America. A long time supporter of Michigan Tech, he was a Life Trustee of the Michigan Tech Fund, serving from 1970 to 1980, and a member of the President's Club. In 1981, he received an honorary Doctor of Engineering. His outstanding record of civic service included memberships in numerous organizations and clubs.
