Biography
Yi is an assistant professor at the Department of Civil, Environmental, and Geospatial
Engineering at Michigan Technological University. His research focuses on developing
computational and experimental tools to understand the mechanics behind adaptive and
reconfigurable structures, with broad application potentials in Civil Engineering,
Aerospace Engineering, Robotics, and many
other fields. His teaching interest focuses on topics of structural design and mechanics.
Prior to joining Michigan Tech, he was an adjunct lecturer at University of Michigan
– Ann Arbor. He finished his postdoctoral training and PhD degree at University of
Michigan – Ann Arbor, his master’s degree at UC Berkeley, and his bachelor’s degree
at Tongji University.
