In this role, Gersie leads the University's efforts to create an environment where all individuals feel valued and supported. His work involves collaborating with faculty, staff, students, alumni, and external partners to promote a culture that enhances engagement and fosters a sense of belonging across the University community.

Before joining Michigan Tech, Gersie served as Assistant Research Professor and Chief Diversity Officer at Penn State's Applied Research Laboratory. He also founded Oasis Strategic Consulting LLC, a firm dedicated to advising organizations on inclusive practices.
