Biography

Dr. Tan has experience in educational research and assessment across campus. Her research program involves using complementary methods (e.g., statistical modeling and analytics, psychological assessment) to evaluate how individual differences are important and impact behaviors at cultural, social, and behavioral levels. She has served as a project evaluator and research analyst for several grants and programs. For example, NSF funded cyber security student summer camp and faculty summer camp projects, NSF funded Engineering Technology Scholars-IMPRESS program, DARPA funded Explainable AI project, Ford Motor Company funded individual rider comfort using cognitive, physiological measure, etc. She also has experience in developing surveys and analyzing data using SurveyMonkey, R, SPSS, and Excel.
