General Usage Guidelines

The new logo may stand alone, but in items intended for public distribution, the Michigan Tech logo MUST always appear elsewhere on the document. See example on the right.

In conjunction with the new logo, the full name of the college MUST appear elsewhere on documentation, e.g., the Michigan Tech College of Engineering.

Using MTUengineering in Text

  • The full name of the college MUST be used in the first reference to the college, e.g., the Michigan Tech College of Engineering.
  • MTUengineering text may be used in text following the first full reference.
  • MTUengineering text may not be used within parentheses; any parenthetical reference to College of Engineering remains (COE) or (Engineering).

Modifying MTUengineering in Text

The MTUengineering text may not be modified, e.g., with bold or italic formatting.

MTUengineering Approved Color Variations

There are logo color variations for white/light and black/dark backgrounds. See the MTUengineering Logos and Templates page for approved examples.

Unacceptable Applications

The MTUengineering logo may not be altered.

MTUengineering: Department Identifiers

Departments may use their department name in conjunction with the MTUengineering sub-brand in two ways—primary and secondary examples are available. The primary layout shows a large MTUengineering logo on top, with a smaller department name under (referred to as the small version). The secondary layout shows a larger department name on top (referred to as the large version). The same usage guidelines apply to departmental identifiers as for MTUengineering, such as approved color variations and unacceptable applications. Google Slides and PowerPoint templates are under development.
