The Leinweber Foundation, established in 2015 by software entrepreneur Larry D. Leinweber,
is a Michigan-based family foundation focused on investing in research, education,
and community initiatives. The Leinweber Software Scholarship Program provides financial
awards to outstanding undergraduate students who are enrolled full-time in Michigan
Tech's College of Computing as a declared Computer Science undergraduate student.
Award
Two (2) students will be awarded a scholarship valued at $10,000. Scholarships may
be renewable for up to two additional years.
Students who meet the following criteria are encouraged to apply for the Leinweber
Software Scholars Annual Scholarship:
- Enrolled full-time as a Computer Science major at Michigan Tech
- Will be a sophomore (2nd-year student) for the 2025-2026 academic year
- Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00
- Interested in working in the software industry in the State of Michigan after graduation
- Resident of, and graduated from, a high school in a rural Michigan county with a population of less than 200,000 people, with a preference for students from Osceola County
- Be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident
Application must be submitted by May 1 at 11:59PM.
Students will be considered for renewal as long as they maintain a minimum cumulaive
GPA of 3.00 at the end of each spring semester, and complete an annual thank you letter
to the scholarship donors, which will include a progress update on their last year's
academic and personal achievements and their continued interest in the software industry
in Michigan. Recipients must also attend a virtual biannual meeting with the donor.
