Information
The purchasing card has the ability to lock out (at the University's discretion) certain Merchant Category Codes (MCCs). An MCC is a numeric code that cross-references to a description of the type of business in which the merchant is engaged.
The lockouts are in place to prevent prohibited products or services from being purchased. Additionally, if there are more than four attempts to process a prohibited purchase in one day, the card will not work at all for the remainder of the day. Following are the MCCs that are currently locked out. Please note that this list is not all inclusive of merchant types/transactions that are prohibited. Please review the Prohibited Items list for additional information.
