Sajin Kumar K.S.

Biography

Dr. Sajin Kumar KS obtained his MSc Geology degree from the University College, Trivandrum, India, in 1998 with I rank. After the completion of Masters, he worked in different organizations in various capacities gaining experience in geological field work, post-graduate teaching and besides expertise in related areas. In the year 2005 he completed PhD from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, India, in the topic of landslides. Later he joined the Geological Survey of India, worked in engineering geology projects and did landslide studies in Himalaya and Western Ghats. In October 2012, he joined the Department of Geology, University of Kerala, India, as Assistant Professor where he mentors post-graduate, M.Phil. and Ph.D. students for their dissertation. He bagged the prestigious UGC Raman Post-Doctoral Fellowship, which enabled him to carry out the Post-Doctoral Research work at Michigan Technological University, USA. He has one book and has several international papers to his credit. He completed three projects and has three ongoing projects of which two are international. He was the guiding force behind signing Memorandum of Understanding for the Department of Geology- one with Indian Space Research Organization and the other with Michigan Technological University, USA. He established one laboratory, called Laboratory of Earth Resources Information System (LERIS) and one centre, named Geological Investigation, Field and Analog (GIFAT) Centre, in the Department of Geology, University of Kerala. Under his guidance one student completed Ph.D. and other four are currently pursuing their Ph.D.
