The late Colin Campbell received his degree in Mining from Michigan Tech. After graduation, he worked at the Oliver Mining Company before joining the U.S. Navy, where he served as an officer in the Pacific during World War II. Following his military service, he was employed by the Calumet & Hecla Mining Company as manager of mines before beginning his 24 year career with International Minerals and Chemical in Lakeland, Florida. During his long career with IMC, he was Manager of Minerals Operations (Florida Phosphate Mining), General Production Manager (Industrial Chemicals Mining), Operations Manager (Florida Phosphate Mining), General Operations Manager (Canadian Potash Mining), and Vice-President and General Manager (Florida Phosphate Mining).
Prior to his death, he was a member of the Presidents Club, and will be an "in memoriam" member of the Second Century Society. He served on the Board of Directors of Lakeland General Hospital, was a sponsor of the Florida Future Farmers Century Club, President of Employers Health Care Group of Polk County, and Vice-President of the Board of Directors of Lakeland Chamber of Commerce. He participated in various civic and service organizations.
He is survived by his wife Ruth, two sons, two daughters, and ten grandchildren.
