Biography

Eric Halonen serves as the Assistant Vice President for Principal Giving and is responsible for advancing the mission, vision and short and long-term goals of Michigan Tech through private philanthropic support in the form of principal ($1 million+) outright and estate gifts.

Eric joined the Michigan Tech Fund and the Office of Advancement in 1997 as the Director of Planned Giving during the Leaders for Innovation Campaign. During his 20+ year career with Michigan Tech, he also served as the Assistant Vice President of Advancement and the Director of Major Gifts and Gift Planning. Prior to coming to Michigan Tech, Eric was a Commercial Loan officer for Michigan Financial Corporation (now Flagstar Bank) and a CPA and Audit senior for the accounting firm of Ernst & Young in their Milwaukee, WI office.

A native of Hancock, Eric attended Michigan Tech and graduated from Albion College in 1991 with a degree in Economics and Management with a concentration in accounting. He is a member of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA) and the National Association of Charitable Gift Planners (CGP).
