A limited number of course credits taken as a graduate student at other colleges or universities may be accepted for graduate credit at Michigan Tech. If these credits were taken before enrollment at Michigan Tech, a request for transfer credit should be made during the student’s first semester on campus. Transfer of credits taken after enrollment at Michigan Tech must be approved in advance of course registration. Courses intended primarily for undergraduates and courses used toward a prior degree are not transferable. The number of credits accepted depends on an evaluation by the major department and the dean of the Graduate School. In no case may the total number of transfer credits exceed 1/3 of the required non-research course credits.
- Michigan Intercollegiate Graduate Studies (MIGS) Program—Current graduate students in good standing may take courses at participating graduate schools in Michigan and apply them to their Michigan Tech degree.
- Senior Rule—Eligible seniors at Michigan Tech may enroll in graduate courses and apply them toward a graduate degree.
