Critical Understanding to Protect Data and Applications

Cybersecurity is one of the fastest growing fields in the U.S. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), between 2021 and 2031, the number of information security analysts is projected to grow 35%, making it the eighth-fastest-growing occupation in the U.S. The on-campus and online Foundations of Cybersecurity certificate program at Michigan Tech presents students and professionals working in computer science with the requisite knowledge and skills to move into this growing field. The National Security Agency has designated Michigan Tech as a Center for Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense (CAE-CD) and Cyber Research (CAE-R). Michigan Tech is the only university in Michigan to receive both the CAE-CD and CAE-R designations.

The certificate can be applied toward the MS in Cybersecurity or the MS in Computer Science.
