Teach STEM and Build Your Hands-on Knowledge
Michigan Tech's graduate on-campus certificate in Post-secondary STEM Education prepares you for a career in the field of education and provides you with the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to incorporate STEM into your classroom.
You'll get hands-on practical experience in STEM teaching, curriculum design, assessment, and/or research which makes you a more effective educator and researcher. Modeled after a “student teaching” experience, students will work closely with one or more faculty mentors to develop the skills necessary to engage in high-quality STEM education instruction or research
Who is This Certificate For?
This certificate is for qualified professionals who want to enhance their skill set and can be a foundation to continue toward a graduate degree. It is also valuable for degree-seeking students looking to develop a concentration that gives them an edge in their career path.
What You Need to Know
A graduate certificate in Post-secondary STEM Education provides you an overview of current research and issues in STEM teaching and learning. Gain knowledge of and practice in developing lessons that engage STEM students in inquiry and sense-making, and practical experience in STEM teaching, curriculum development, or research.
All students completing a practicum attend a faculty-led seminar promoting students’ reflection on the experience, focusing on connections between the work in the practicum, and research-based strategies to improve teaching and learning.
