Estimates of the number of anglers who fish each Great Lake for salmon/trout are available by age and sex annually between 2000 and 2014. These include only anglers who are resident in one of the US states bordering that lake. Please consider that these are estimates and should be taken as an approximation, rather than a solid count of the number of anglers. Also included are corresponding estimates of the total eligible population resident in each state, by age and sex. These total populations make up the full universe of potential Great Lakes salmon/trout anglers and could be used as a denominator for constructing participation rates. Identical data files are available for download in .csv format (compatible with many programs), or in .dta format (for use with Stata). Maps indicate the approximate number of anglers who fish each lake for salmon/trout and the angler participation rate, by county.
