Undergraduate Research & Scholarship Symposium

Overhead view of Undergraduate Research Symposium

The tenth annual Undergraduate Research & Scholarship Symposium (URSS) will take place on Friday, March 21, 2025, in the Rozsa Lobby.  The Symposium will highlight the cutting-edge research conducted on Michigan Tech’s campus by some of our best and brightest undergraduates.

The student participants represent a wide array of disciplines from across campus and highlight the diversity of research areas being explored. Attendees will be given the opportunity to speak with the students conducting research, ask them questions about their projects, and learn more about undergraduate research and scholarship.

Coinciding with Michigan Tech’s Preview Weekend. The Symposium is a great way to share the exciting research projects going on across campus with high school students who are considering attending Michigan Tech. We encourage all faculty, staff and students to attend and support our excellent undergraduate researchers.

Information For Presenters

Interested in presenting at the 2025 Undergraduate Research & Scholarship Symposium? Submit your research submission before Monday, February 3, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. Submissions will be reviewed by the Pavlis Honors College, and a confirmation of acceptance will be sent by February 7, 2025.

Undergraduate researchers and scholars from all colleges are invited to present their research at the symposium each year.

The symposium gives undergraduate students the opportunity to:

  • present posters describing completed or ongoing research
  • receive feedback from distinguished judges
  • learn from experience

Information For Judges

We need faculty, staff, and community members to serve as distinguished judges. Judging entails reviewing poster material submitted on PebblePad between February 17 and March 3, 2025. We will match faculty with a mixture of researchers, some from their home department and others from departments across campus. We will provide recorded training how to use PebblePad and you can review material anytime (and from anywhere!) within those dates. If you would like to serve as a judge for the symposium, please submit this brief judges registration form.
