Following the baseline assessment and Health Minds Study conducted during fall 2018, Michigan Tech was presented with a strategic plan to address improvements in overall well-being and the prevention of suicide and substance misuse. The timeline below highlights the significant accomplishments of the Michigan Tech team during our JED Campus journey.

Healthy Minds Student Study was completed on campus.

JED Campus onsite visit.

Michigan Tech received the JED Campus Strategic Plan and created four working groups: Communications, Policy, Environmental Scanning, and Events and Programming

Working groups began meeting.

Dean of Students’ area student support coordinator position created and filled.

Completed scan of MEEM and Wadsworth Hall and identified areas of concern.

Good Samaritan Policy reviewed and updated.

Counselor embedded in Center for Diversity and Inclusion for Let’s Talk and other counseling initiatives.

Launch of Good Samaritan Tip Line and promotion during Winter Carnival.

The Center for Student Mental Health & Well-being was created, merging the former Counseling Services and Student Health and Wellness departments to create a more comprehensive campus approach to well-being.
August
Be Well Initiative initial pilot rollout with Residence Education and Housing Services curriculum.
Clinical counseling hours began being offered outside of 9-4 business hours.

Telemental health services through Morneau Shepell's MySSP student support program.
