About

The Institute of Advanced Materials and Manufacturing (IAMM) forwards Michigan Tech’s significant role and presence as a as a leader in advanced materials development and manufacturing innovation to meet tomorrow’s challenges for a prosperous and sustainable future.

IAMM is administered by the Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Tech Forward Working Group (AMM-WG), an interdisciplinary committee of university faculty with shared and collaborative interests in enhancing and expanding the manufacturing infrastructure at Michigan Tech, and the development and insertion of new materials into the manufacturing stream. Current members of the AMM-WG include faculty from the following colleges and/or departments:

Mission

IAMM builds and nurtures interdisciplinary partnerships and expertise to enhance the footprint of advanced materials and manufacturing activities at Michigan Tech.

Goals

IAMM serves as the front door to all things manufacturing at Michigan Tech. We welcome in our current and potential partners on campus and around the world. Our door is also open to prospective students and their families who want to know what Huskies learn, do, and accomplish across the spectrum of advanced materials and manufacturing projects and coursework at Michigan Tech — and how those learning-by-doing experiences lead to unparalleled career opportunities.

Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Grants

The Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Working Group has selected the following proposals for the first round of AMM grants, awarded in January 2023. The grants seek efforts that increase or enhance the materials manufacturing infrastructure on the Michigan Tech campus and potential for significant return on investment through external grant opportunities.
