Louie graduated from Michigan Tech in 1949 with his B.S. in Metallurgical Engineering. He held various positions in industry until 1959 when he became a Metallurgical Engineer at Westinghouse Electric Corporation, Buffalo Motor and Gearing, Buffalo NY. While at Westinghouse, Louis owned and managed Lockport Non-Ferrous Castings of Lockport NY.
In 1971, Louie became president of Jardine Castings, eventually merging this company to form Meloon Foundries, which he currently owns and operates, in Syracuse, NY. The company is engaged in casting aluminum and copper base alloys. Over 40 different alloys are cast for commercial applications serving more than 200 customers in the United States. Meloon Foundries is nationally recognized as one of the leading jobbing foundries. Louie resides in Jamesville, NY.
