Biography

Dr. Zou is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Michigan Technological University (MTU). Prior to this appointment in 2022, he was a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Civil and Construction Engineering at Oregon State University (OSU) from 2021 to 2022. And he was a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Aerospace Engineering at Iowa State University (ISU) before joining the Pacific Marine Energy Center at OSU (from 2018 to 2021). He received his PhD in the Department of Mechanical Engineering-Engineering Mechanics at MTU in 2018. Dr. Zou has research interests in dynamics and control with applications to ocean renewables, multi-agent systems (autonomy), machine learning, optimization, and state estimation. Dr. Zou has a strong interest in making renewable energy more economically viable in the future energy market. He currently serves as the guest editor of the special issue of the journal Electronics. In addition, he also serves as the session chair of the 16th International Conference on Motion and Vibration Control (IFAC-MoVic 2022).
