The objective of AIAA is, within our institution, to ignitinte and celebrate aerospace ingenuity and collaboration by being a link to the aerospace community for our members. This student branch is established to highlight to Michigan Technological University and our local community the value of the aerospace industry and the role played by AIAA.
Established to advance and disseminate knowledge of the theory and practice of mechanical engineering; presentation of proper perspective of engineering work; afford the opportunity to become acquainted with the personnel and activities of the Society. The American Society for Mechanical Engineers is the most popular mechanical engineering organization on campus. They participate in a variety of different activities from the Rube Goldberg Machine Contest to the Student Design Competition to organizing a cardboard sled race.

Husky Enterprise Teams Up with US Coast Guard
Look who flew into Houghton — pilots, mechanics, and rescue swimmer crews from the Coast Guard helicopters Jayhawk (Traverse City) and Dolphin (Detroit). The SENSE Enterprise team at Michigan Tech is working with them to create a lighter, easily deployable and more effective mass rescue raft.
Michigan Tech's Keweenaw Rocket Range at IREC 2019
In June of 2019, ten members of Michigan Tech's Keweenaw Rocket Range traveled over 1700 miles to compete in IREC (Intercollegiate Rocket Engineering Challenge) at Spaceport America in New Mexico. The rookie team successfully managed to launch, land and recover their rocket but more importantly they made new friends along the way.
