The initiative matrix has general guidelines.

Follow the guidelines in support of the mission. The matrix applies to designated funds identified in the MTTI operational budget.

There is a distinction between projects and major initiatives.

MTTI is interested in funding the development of exploratory projects and larger initiatives that increase the overall research funding coming to MTTI members.

The initiative matrix is divided into discretionary funding and required cost share.

An example is outlined for a major initiative.

The Rail Transportation program example helps with a strategy, timeline phases, planned funding, actual funding, budget, expenses, metrics, progress, and ingredients for success.

Initiative forms include requests for general initiative funding, travel, and minor initiative funding.
