Tech alumni, and friends. You can also apply for various scholarships offered by railroad
industry sources, such as AREMA.
Michigan Tech RTP Scholarships
Funding is through an endowment by our industry partner, CN Railway, and through generous
donations by our alumni and friends.
Description: Unlimited $100 scholarships are available to graduates of any rail or Summer Youth
Program entering Michigan Tech.
Eligibility: Rail and Intermodal Summer Youth Program graduates.
Application and Deadline: Contact RTP staff.
RTP First Year Scholarship
Description: Minimum of four $500 scholarships for any first year student interest in the railroad
industry.
Eligibility: First year Michigan Tech students.
Application and Deadline: September each year.
Description: In support of students who received first year scholarships and have met the criteria
for continuing involvement in RTP and railroad studies.
Eligibility: Continuing first year scholarship recipients.
Application and Deadline: Contact RTP to discuss renewing criteria.
CN, Alumni, and Friends Scholarship
Description: Merit scholarships for students who have demonstrated their interest in the railroad
industry. Aligned with AREMA scholarships.
Eligibility: Any Michigan Tech student.
Application and Deadline: December 10. Check with RTP staff.
Industry Scholarships
In addition to RTP scholarships, there are numerous industry scholarships available
for Michigan tech students. These include those from the American Railway Engineering
and Maintenance-of-Way Association (AREMA) and the American Public Transportation Foundation (APTF).
