1400 Townsend Drive

The Great Lakes Research Center (GLRC) welcomed RV Soliton to its fleet of marine assets last year. Built by Workskiff, the 26-foot workboat has a bare aluminum hull, a covered pilothouse, and two 150-horsepower outboard engines, which each have a fuel capacity of 150 gallons.
RV Soliton and the other vessels in the GLRC's fleet of marine assets allow Michigan Tech faculty, staff, and students direct access to Lake Superior. Both surface and subsurface assets are available for use by the Tech community and the University's collaborative partners on a shared basis. The fleet includes both crewed research vessels and autonomous surface and subsurface vessels. Read More

Phi Kappa Tau Takes the Crown at Winter Carnival 2025

The winning statue, "In Search of a Maiden So Fair, Our Hero Enters the Dragon's Lair," showcased craftsmanship worthy of a royal court and earned Phi Kappa Tau top honors, according to Michigan Tech's chapter of Blue Key National Honor Society, the Winter Carnival organizers. Blue Key announced the 2025 snow statue winners in the afternoon on Thursday, Feb. 6. Teams in month-long and one-night categories created statues based on this year's Carnival theme: "Dragons, Knights, and Legendary Sights." Read More

Students participate in the midyear commencement ceremony

MTU Class of 2024 Celebrates Midyear Commencement

The ceremony begins at 10:30 a.m. in the Varsity Gym of the Student Development Complex. The SDC will open at 8:30 a.m. for ticketed guests, and free parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis in Lot 22 adjacent to the SDC and Lot 24 near the football field. Tickets are required to attend the commencement ceremony. Guests are encouraged to check the campus map for accessible parking locations. Guests can also watch the ceremony via livestream, with a recording available afterward. Read More
