TRIO Talent Search (TS) is designed to stimulate and motivate college potential middle through high school residing in Baraga, Gogebic, Houghton, Iron, and Ontonagon counties of Michigan whose parents do not possess a four-year college degree and/or come from an income-eligible home. The program is 100% funded by the US Department of Education and free to eligible participants.

TRIO Talent Search serves 729 participants from Baraga, Gogebic, Houghton, Iron, Keweenaw & Ontonagon counties

Department of Education Requirements

Income-eligible and/or;

Potential first-generation college students (Custodial parent[s] has not graduated from a four-year college or university)

Priority to students in target schools and students who are both income-eligible and potential first-generation

US Citizen or legal permanent residency

Completed the 5th grade or at least 11 years of age

Have college potential (recommended 2.0 GPA or higher). Grade reports, test scores, attendance records, and/or counselor recommendations may be requested.
