Educating today’s grade-school students is of utmost importance to researchers at Michigan Technological University. Oftentimes, students are unaware of career opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), and our outreach initiatives are the first step to recruiting the next generation of STEM-minded students. Researchers at Michigan Tech work to ensure that students from pre-kindergarten through senior year of high school know of the value of a college education—and open their eyes to a stunning array of professional options.
Education and outreach at Michigan Tech encompasses efforts from countless departments and academic disciplines. From Mind Trekkers (Tech’s student-run traveling STEM roadshow) to leadership and entrepreneurship training to water policy seminars to summer teacher training institutes, educators at Tech work hand-in-hand with all ages and groups to communicate the importance of research happening on campus and to spark an interest in continued education among our nation’s youngest.
