Our research advances knowledge in many multifaceted civil, environmental, mechanical, and materials engineering areas, and Michigan Tech truly excels in transportation work. Our experts study airports, pavements, railroads, traffic engineering and safety, transportation materials, structures, and life cycle analysis. Their expertise spans environmental and infrastructural sustainability, designing for the developing world, civil materials and structures, construction, environmental engineering education, hydrology and hydraulic structures, and biogeochemistry.
Our research team also has access to many premier laboratories and facilities—like one of only a few facilities in the world equipped to test and evaluate ultrahigh-performance concrete—which allows their projects to have incredible impact locally and abroad, and across disciplinary boundaries.
