It is nearly time to say "See You Next Year" to the snow and "Hello" to sunshine and warmer weather!
With Spring semester coming to a close, the Residence Education and Housing team wants to ensure you are set up for success as you transition out of the residence halls for summer break!
All residents must move out of the residence halls by April 27 at 12 pm noon. Prior to departure, there are some important steps that students must complete!
To ensure a smooth process, students should work to restore their rooms to its original clean condition. This will help you save unnecessary cleaning costs and other maintenance fees.
Prior to Departure From the Halls
We want to ensure your Move Out Day is a success! Make sure you complete these important tasks prior to departing the residence halls.
- Set up a time with your RA in advance to officially check out of your room.
- Beds should be fully lofted. Safety rails should be in the correct position and mattress should be below safety rails.
- Furniture should be positioned below the bed.
- Restore room to the original condition upon move-in. Room should be clean and inspected for damage.
- Return room to original layout. All furniture is labeled with a letter. Ensure all letters match on each side of room.
- All 4 safety pins need to be in! If you are missing some, go to the front desk to get more.
- Carefully remove all adhesive tape and hangers.
- Remember all of your belongings. Take unwanted but reusable items to the Husky Exchange.
Don't Throw It Away, Use Husky Exchange!
If you have items you don’t want to bring home with you, consider donating them to the Husky Exchange. The Husky Exchange program will gather reusable but unwanted items from residents as they move out of the residence halls in the spring, and donate to local organizations or resell/giveaway the items back to students in the fall. The event begins on Friday April 19 and runs through Saturday April 27.

- How are you planning on getting home? Whether you are driving your own car or being picked up, be sure to coordinate your transportation now!
- Have you forwarded your mail and updated your mailing address? The Front Desk will not accept outgoing packages after Wednesday, April 24. Incoming mail will still be processed and forwarded to the appropriate party.
- Are you sure all of your belongings will fit in your vehicle? You may have accumulated more belongings during the school year than what you originally brought to campus. There's no on-campus storage, but you can look for off-campus solutions or consider utilizing the Husky Exchange!

Quiet Hours
Finals Week is often a time of rigorous studying and preparing for exams. We want to ensure all of our students have the best opportunity for success!
To help create an optimal environment for our residence hall students to prepare for finals, Quiet Hours will be in effect starting Friday, April 19 at 11:59pm and will continue until Friday, April 26 at 12pm.
During this time, no music, crowd noise or other sound audible outside of your rooms/apartments will be permitted. Daily courtesy hours will be 12-1pm and 5-6pm each day, during which time noise restrictions will not be enforced. Please still be cognizant of your fellow Huskies during these hours.
Need To Stay Late?
All students are expected to move out by 12 pm on April 27. Students with extenuating circumstances or an MTU-related reason that require a late departure from the residence halls must complete a Late Stay Request Form before Wednesday, April 24! If approved, you will be charged a $20.00 fee per day for late departure.
Interested in Summer Housing?
If you are taking summer courses and need housing, you will need to reach out to housing@mtu.edu before completing the Summer Housing Contract in HuskyHouse.
