Hillside Place | Residential Living

Welcome to Michigan Tech's newest housing option, Hillside Place. Hillside Place offers a unique living environment that is similar to the residence halls, yet includes many independent living features. Hillside Place is reserved for full-time students who have completed at least one year of college.

Hillside Place residence hall at Michigan Technological University is one of the first LEED Gold Certified student residences in Michigan.

Each unit consists of 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen and living area. Each person will have their own individual bedroom. All students will share the main living area, defined as the kitchen, living room, and bathrooms.

Room Layout

Included in the rate are cable and internet. Cleaning services of the living area twice a semester are also included.

Reception Desk Services (In McNair)

Open 10AM - 8PM daily
Check-out items for residents (sports equipment, board games, basic tools, cookware, cleaning supplies, etc.)
Check-out spare room keys for lost or misplaced room keys
Mail sorting for McNair Hall and Hillside Place residents and staff (NOTE: Our staff does NOT actually handle mail delivery/processing; we ONLY sort and log mail as it is dropped off in batches from third-party carriers (USPS, UPS, FedEx, etc.). Students with packages or oversized items to pick up will receive an email once the items have been logged. Any queries regarding mail delivery to the residence halls can be directed to deskcoordinator@mtu.edu.)

Fitness Rooms

For the fitness enthusiast each hall has a fitness room well-equipped with aerobic and weight training equipment. All residence hall students can join the Quad Core Fitness Club for a nominal fee.

Dining Services

All residents of Hillside Place are required to have a meal plan. Hillside residents can select a Block Meal Plan (75, 100, or 150 meal plan options) or choose to continue with their full-service meal plan during the Housing contract process in HuskyHouse. Dining Halls are located in Wadsworth, McNair and Douglass Houghton Hall and offer a variety of tasty menus and innovative food stations for Hillside residents. Game Rooms

The game rooms offer a variety of recreational equipment from pool tables to arcade games. Equipment is provided and may be checked out at the Reception Desks.

Laundry Rooms

Laundry rooms are conveniently located in each hall.

Study Areas

Many areas specifically designated for studying are located in each residence hall. A quiet environment is observed there at all times.

Computer Connections

Computing at Michigan Tech is available in many places and in many ways. Each major has computing facilities with the hardware and software that are available to you through your computing fee.

Many students bring their own desktop or laptop computer. ResTech is Michigan Tech's residence hall network that provides students with high-speed Internet access from the comfort of their rooms. A list of wireless Internet hotzones on campus is also available through RoverNet.

Saunas are available for students in each residence hall. Hours for use are posted in the respective hall.
