Introduction
Proposal 44-19: Proposal for Career Fair Recess was passed on April 11, 2019 to begin
in Fall of 2020, giving students a two-hour break from classes on the day of the Career
Fair. This proposal recommends that this break begin in Fall 2021 semester.
Rationale
Due to COVID19, the 2020 fall career fair will be held virtually through the platform
Career Fair PLUS. The fair will be hosted over the course of two days. In addition
to the added day, the fair will run from 10am-7pm to allow for more flexibility for
both students and recruiters. The virtual platform will allow for students to pre-schedule
times to meet with recruiters, resulting in less disruption to their course schedule.
For this reason, the already approved two-hour break for career fair is not necessary
for this year.
Proposal for Career Fair Recess to Begin Fall 2021:
This proposal to the University Senate is that the previously approved two-hour break
to be given to students on the day of Career Fair beginning in Fall 2020 would instead
begin starting Fall 2021.
