Printed Marketing
Notice: Change to Table Tent Policy
Beginning January 6, 2025, Husky Eats and the Memorial Union Building will transition
to a more sustainable advertising option by offering digital advertising within our
spaces instead of printed table tents. This change reflects our commitment to sustainability while fostering a welcoming
and positive dining environment for all students. We appreciate your cooperation and
support as we implement this new approach. Please note that this policy is subject to change as we continue to improve and adapt
to the needs of our campus community.
Table tents are a low-cost advertising method to reach a large number of students, staff, and faculty with announcements about current events for groups affiliated with Michigan Tech. Table Tents are intended for the promotion of individual events, not consecutive/routine marketing, or solicitation.
Tents must be approved by Husky Eats following the policy and steps listed below.
Policy:
- A maximum of five table tents will be approved each week on a first-come, first-served basis at the discretion of Husky Eats. Priority will be given to one-time events.
- Available slots by week are viewable on our Table Tent Tracker and approvals are only for a one week slot.
- It may take up to 2 business days for review and approval, please plan accordingly. Table tents are not approved until you receive an email stating so from Husky Eats.
- All table tents in each location will be recycled on Friday, this day could vary if there is an event that necessitates clearing the tables.
- No swearing, threatening, vulgar language or content is permitted. All approval is at the discretion of Husky Eats.
Steps:
- Design your table tent, maximum allowed size is on 8.5” x 11” paper folded. Be sure to include your registered student organization or department name on it. University entities (not student organizations) are required to include the Equal Opportunity Tagline on all advertisements.
- Submit your table tent for approval via email as a PDF to huskyeats@mtu.edu with ‘Table Tent’ and your organization or department name in the subject line. Please indicate which week you are requesting to display your table tent.
- After receiving approval, you can print your table tents. Quantities and locations where table tents are permitted are at the MUB Keweenaw Commons, (See permitted table map) 59; Food Hall at Douglass Houghton Hall, 35; The Eatery at McNair, 50; and The Food Hall at Wadsworth Hall, 97. (Total of 241)
- Place your table tents, one per table. All table tents in each location will be recycled if there is an event or every Friday.
Husky Eats and the Memorial Union Building are actively seeking alternative sustainable options to table tents for event advertising. This policy is subject to change as we strive to create a welcoming and positive dining environment for all students. Thank you for your cooperation.
RSO’s have several printing options on campus:
- Utilize standard HuskyPrint services through IT. Black and white printing is free. There is a cost associated with color printing.
- Utilize the on-campus printshop following this simple guide.
Print in MUB 106. A full color copier is available for use on projects under 50 pages. Black and white copies are 5 cents. Color copies are 10 cents. Email rso@mtu.edu for your RSO’s personalized code in order to use the printer.
Digital Marketing
Each weekend Film Board shows a slide show with advertisements prior to that weekend’s movie. Advertisements are sold on a slot basis for both slide and video advertisements. Learn more on the Lode’s “Advertise with Us” webpage.
Student groups can share graphics on the screens located in the Library and the Residence Halls at the discretion of those departments. Submissions to the library can be made on their “Digital Signage Request Form.” Submissions to the residence halls can be made by emailing housing@mtu.edu. Please ensure to include the start and end date, your organization name, and attach the graphic. The preferred formatting/size for digital displays is a standard power point slide (16:9).
The University Marketing and Communications team offers a thorough field guide for the use of social media accounts. We recommend using it for suggestions and ideas for your own social media platforms. They also allow university groups to utilize their platforms by request, such as creating a video for Tik Tok.
