The transition to college life brings new challenges - living away from home, choosing a major, and making friends. Husky Connect pairs you with an experienced Michigan Tech student who will welcome you, guide you, and support your adjustment to University life.

Your Mentorship Experience

As a Husky Connect participant, you'll receive:

  • Personalized guidance from a current Michigan Tech student
  • Enrollment in a specialized one-credit success course
  • Regular one-on-one meetings with your mentor
  • Invitations to exclusive social and networking events
  • A $500 Academic Incentive applied to your spring financial aid package upon successful completion*

*This incentive may affect previously awarded financial aid.

Husky Connect Success 101

This one-credit course is designed specifically to support your transition from high school to college. You'll:

  • Learn effective strategies for academic success
  • Explore campus resources and involvement opportunities
  • Meet with career professionals and faculty researchers
  • Develop skills in time management and leadership
  • Connect with other first-year students in the program

Who Can Apply

You're eligible if you are an:

  1. Incoming first-year student, AND
  2. Pell Grant eligible student OR first-generation college student (neither parent/guardian graduated from a 4-year institution)
