Don't forget, registration is now open for summer Huskies Aquatics programs! We are excited to offer programs for both youth and adults from beginners to advanced participants with an extended variety of times. (Additional classes have been added.)

Lean Higher Ed Americas Encore Event

Register now for the Lean HE Americas Encore event on June 13 from 1-4:30 p.m. ET on Zoom.

Lean HE is an international community of practice composed of lean and related improvement practitioners in higher education. The virtual mini-conference encore event will showcase presentations from the Lean in Higher Education International Conference held in San Diego, California, last October.

New Funding

Bradley Wells (CEO) is the principal investigator (PI) on a project that has received a $50,000 other sponsored activities contract from the Michigan Department of Transportation.

The project is titled "Michigan Tech Summer Youth Programs - National Summer Transportation Institute 2024."

Jannah Tumey (CEO) is a co-PI on this project.

Libby Meyer (VPA) is the recipient of a $20,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.

This grant will support a multidisciplinary art series at the Rozsa Center in fall 2024. Additionally, composer Daniel Wohl will be in residence with HUB New Music in October 2024.

In total, the NEA will award 1,135 Grants for Arts Projects awards totaling more than $37 million as part of its second round of fiscal year 2024 grants.

Zhanping You (CEGE/MTTI) was mentioned by the University of Michigan as a member of a research team awarded a $10,000 sustainability catalyst grant from U-M’s Graham Sustainability Institute. Inspired by mussel-binding proteins, the team aims to “strengthen asphalt roads, reducing the need for repairs and lessening their impact on the environment, economy and society.”

Hamline University in Saint Paul, Minnesota, mentioned Michigan Tech’s 1,000-acre campus, 16 centers and institutes, and $100 million in research expenditures in a press release about its new vice president for finance and administration and CFO, Susan Kerry. Reminder

Cliff Drive Closed Saturday

Cliff Drive will be closed to all traffic from Parking Lot 1 eastward on Saturday (June 1). A new sanitary sewer line for the East Hall project is being installed across Cliff Drive near the entrance of Parking Lot 10, and this will cut off the exit access at the east end of Cliff Drive.

Access around the closure through the construction site will be available for emergency use only.
