Scholarships and Student Financial Aid

9.16 University Student Awards
Value: variable, up to the amount of regular full-time tuition charges for Michigan residents or the difference between out-of-state and Michigan tuition for non-Michigan residents.
This award can be made to entering freshman or transfer students and to students enrolled full-time with a minimum 2.00 cumulative grade point average.
Awarded for one year by the Director of Financial Aid for the Scholarship Committee on the basis of financial need as determined by a uniform methodology need analysis.
Application for renewal must be made each year.

9.17 University Student Grants
Awarded to students under special extenuating circumstances by the Director of Financial Aid in consultation with the Chair of the Scholarship Committee.

9.18 Athletic Grants
The Grant program for athletes is administered by the Director of Financial Aid for the Scholarship Committee and is limited to the maximum number of full grants as specified in the bylaws of the National Collegiate Athletic Association.

9.19 Sponsored Scholarships
Scholarships sponsored by individuals, companies, foundations, etc. are administered in compliance with the conditions of the sponsor to the extent consistent with applicable law and Board policy.

9.20 National Merit Scholarships (Michigan Technological University Merit)
The Board of Trustees authorizes and encourages the awarding of scholarships to National Merit scholars attending Michigan Tech in each academic year. The awards are determined by contractual obligation with the National Merit Corporation and are not to exceed an individual value of $2,000 per year.
